Arthur Elgort Exhibition

There is no better way to escape the dreary weather than to head to a museum or gallery.  I can't wait to visit the Stanley Wise Gallery soon to see the fabulous photographs of Arthur Elgort on display.  They range from the beginning of his career in 1970 to 2010.  Elgort has shot for some of the best fashion magazines so his subjects range from models and designers to even a few editors and other photographers.  Many of them are in motion or on the street instead of posed in a studio which "changed the face of fashion photography."  The best part is that they are also for sale!

Trench Warfare

Tomorrw is April 1st and you know what that means, April showers that will hopefully bring May flowers.  It's actually already raining in New York today so most likely everyone will be pulling out their trench coats.  I still love my Gryphon trench but it's looking a little old and my Burberry trench tends to make me look like Meryl Streep in Kramer vs. Kramer above.  It seems like it might be time for a little shopping so I'm looking to these lovely ladies for inspiration.  Find of funny that the five year is chicest one!  Enjoy!

It may not feel like spring but that doesn't mean we can't shop for it!  I visited my friend Creations by Kage designer Kristin Holstein at her cute little shop Kage on Irving recently to check out the new bags.  I absolutely love the embroidered clutch and hobos and of course the trellis wallpaper in the store.  If you can't make it to the Kage on Irving, you can always shop online. Kristin has generously offered Habitually Chic readers a special 10% off with code habituallychic11.  Happy Shopping!

Tea Time

The continued cold temperatures in New York have me drinking lots of tea to warm up.  Now you can not only drink your tea but you can wear it too.  Well, not the tea itself but the new Tea Fragrance Blends from Jo Malone. They were kind enough to send me the collection and I can't get enough of the Sweet Milk scent.  It smells like crème brĂ»lĂ©e mixed with coconut suntan lotion.  So yummy! I also love the Earl Grey & Cucumber and the Assam & Grapefruit but the Sweet Lemon and Fresh Mint Leaf colognes also smell good enough to eat, I mean drink.  Get them before they are gone.  Little cucumber sandwiches with the crusts cut off sold separately.

Sponsor Spotlight: Interior Connector

I’m very lucky to live in New York and have access to all the best home stores.  For those of you who can’t get here in person, you can now shop many of my favorites online at InteriorConnector.  The site brings together the best in home furnishings and interior design as well as a dĂ©cor report.  You can shop at the chic downtown shop Etos, owned by my lovely friends Mercedes and Alberto, as well as Carolina George, Palumbo/Anderssen Modern, Venfield, Duane Modern, and many more.  The best part is that you don't even have to leave your house!  Happy Shopping!

J.Crew Fall 2011 Preview

As I was walking up to Industria Studios yesterday afternoon for the J.Crew Fall 2011 preview, I saw Vogue editor Filipa Fina leaving.  She was wearing bright plum colored cropped pants.  Not sure if this was planned or a coincidence but it was definitely a harbinger of what was to come inside as viewed by the first looks above.  Obviously, I am already a fan of J.Crew but I have to say that I really loved the fall 2011 women's collection.  The saturated colors like orange and fuchsia are gorgeous and will look great mixed with pieces in grey and camel that you might already own.  Women's designer Marissa Webb treated her team to movie night where they were inspired by Bonnie and Clyde and The Great Gatsby.  The result is a mix of ladylike femininity and confident tailoring with a little whimsy thrown in for good measure.  I think my favorite for fall is all the resin jewelry that I definitely wanted to steal off the models.  Men's designer Frank Muytjens was inspired by photographer Lewis Hine and his photos of construction workers building the Empire State Building in the 1930's.  The silhouettes were slimmed for the modern man and are sure to be a hit this fall.  Actually, it's too bad that we have to wait until fall for these fashions since the weather is perfect for these looks!

I think J.Crew needs to hire Travis Gumbs and Joshua Kissi of Street Etiquette as models next season.  They were some of the most dapper men I've ever seen!

Marissa Webb and Jenna Lyons also make perfect J.Crew models.  Love those orange pants!
