Chic Site for Moms

When someone from Elizabeth Street Mom invited me to a launch event for their new site, my first response was "you know I don't have kids right?" But then I remembered that many of my readers do.  The site is billed as "the place where stylish moms meet" and it is a chic alternative to all the other mommy sites on the internet now.  One of their fun features under Living is a look inside the homes of some very fashionable moms and their children.  One in particular is Andrea Borda Stanford of One Kings Lane.  I got to know Andrea first when she was with C magazine and always love visiting her when I'm in Los Angeles.  Of course her 10 year old daughter Ryan's bedroom is beautiful. I love that it's been updated and can definitely grow with her. It also makes me want to see the rest of her home so maybe they can work on that feature next.  In the meantime, I'll continue to work on finding myself a husband so I can be an Elizabeth Street Mom soon!

NYIGF Trend: Chairs for Children

I attended the New York International Gift Fair yesterday and I have a new found respect for store owners who have to attend all five days to shop for their boutiques! I think I would keel over from exhaustion! I enjoy walking the show to see what's new and if there is anything I would buy for my clients but it's definitely a lot less work!

I'm working on my wrap of my favorite new finds but one of the first "trends" I noticed was furniture for children and specifically chairs. Jonathan Adler, above, was debuting his new Junior Collection at the show that included not only furniture but also pillows, rugs, lamps, and throw blankets.

Little Nest offers pint sized versions of all your favorite modern classics.

The children's furniture I was most excited about is the new collection from Oly. They are are now offering smaller versions of their sophisticated furniture that are perfect for New York apartments! You just might want to hide the markers around them!

Oh Baby!

The fact that I, single girl in the city, am designing a baby's room right now makes everyone laugh. Considering that this is really not my department, I've had to do a lot of research online and in stores. I had no idea that a crib needed so many accessories and linens and after seeing the prices, I might have to think about getting into the business! Geez they are expensive! But it has been fun looking at all nurseries and children's rooms for inspiration. The couple isn't learning the sex of the baby before the birth so the color scheme will probably be green and yellow but the pink rooms are adorable!
