The East Coast equivalent to the Oscars is the Metropolitan Museum of Art Costume Institute Gala hosted by Vogue. While you have to be pretty well connected in the fashion world to be invited to the glamorous event, I was able to attend the morning preview. This year's Costume Institute exhibition is dedicated to Alexander McQueen and entitled Savage Beauty. It was one of the more breathtaking shows I've been to in a long time and I can't wait to post my photos tomorrow.
Until then, here's a peek inside the museum decorations for the evening gala. I was blown away by the giant tree sitting a top the information desk in addition to many other trees and an abundance of flowers. It takes almost a year to plan and an army to set up for this day so it was amazing that the event honoring Alexander McQueen would look so similar to the Royal Wedding at which Catherine Middleton wore an Alexander McQueen dress by Sarah Burton. I hope Lee was smiling down on both.
