Chic at Fashion Week

I was telling someone recently that I will never be photographed by one of the fashion week street photographers.  I don't wear "fierce" shoes as my friend Jessica calls them or crazy outfits but that doesn't mean I can't photograph some of them.  I recognized French style blogger Garance Doré when I was leaving the tents at Lincoln Center Sunday and couldn't resist taking her photo. I also couldn't resist photographing some of my favorite editors before, during and after the Oscar de la Renta show Wednesday.

The editors at Vogue including Tonne Goodman with her back to me always look simple and chic unlike all the overly dressed up and accessorized fashion bloggers this week.

How could I not take a photo of the most famous red hair in fashion?!

Hamish Bowles and Anna Wintour chat before Oscar de la Renta.  She only wears the dark sunglasses during the fashion shows.

Susan Tabak stopped Vogue Nippon editor Anna Dello Russo for her own photo op.

Only Anna can get away with a headdress of giant gold cherries!

I love the flash of red as she walked away.

I also caught fashion blogger Hanneli Mustaparta shooting Dani Stahl of Nylon magazine on the street today. It seems that everywhere you look this fashion week there is a blogger with a camera. Cathy Horyn of The New York Times had an interesting opinion on this phenomenon in More Than Meets the iPhone Lens.  But as we in the blogging world know, if you don't photograph it or tweet about it, it never happened.

Vote Early and Often!

I was honored to be one of the bloggers and editors asked to style a model in Tory Burch denim last night at the designers chic Meatpacking District store. My look along with the others are now up for view on the Tory Burch Facebook page where you can vote for your favorite look. Needless to say, I hope you will vote for mine above! I love myself a tie neck blouse and this exactly the same kind of look I would wear with dark jeans.  (I would just swap out the booties for flats.)  I was beyond excited when the model actually said she liked it!  Of course, I wish could look as tall and skinny as her but what can you do?! Don't forget to vote!  Winning would definitely make me feel better!

Lucy in the Sky

Writing a blog is hard work. I can't imagine how much harder it becomes when you have to style your own outfits, photograph them and them post them everyday! I bow down to the fashion bloggers who regularly put themselves and their outfits on display for public scrutiny! My new favorite is Lucy Laucht. I not only love her style but her hair. I think I might have to take her photo to my next hair appointment! Lucy is British but was living in Australia and is now on her way to New York for an internship. She said she'd love to work for a magazine so I think one of my fashion friends needs to scoop her up asap! I have a feeling she's going to take this city by storm!

The Real Slim Paley

Sometimes you find a blog that is so fantastic that you can't decide if you want to be the author, their best friend or pack your bags and show up on their doorstep and hope they don't call the police! I think I can unequivocally say that all three thoughts ran though my mind when I first read Slim Paley and saw her beautiful homes! The author is an interior designer who lives in Santa Barbara, CA with her husband and two boys. She has chosen to remain anonymous and I don't blame her. I did the same thing when I first started my blog because I wasn't sure how the designer I was working for at the time would respond. Just because someone wants to dip their toe into the blogging pool before jumping is no reason not to welcome them.

Slim Paley is a girl after my own heart who would rather curl up with a good book in her Sun Valley, Idaho house (above) than strap two sticks to her feet! She also has a wonderful sense of humor, one that is fun and self deprecating and doesn't make fun of others, except maybe her Pilates instructor! Once you see the photos of her, you'll see what I mean! Someone once asked me what I thought made a good blog and it's definitely one that makes you laugh while remaining professional. Speaking of professional, her travel photos could be considered professional! It's my dream to go on an African safari and I loved reading the account of her trip and seeing her fabulous photos. In a sea of design blogs, I think Slim Paley is going to quickly become one of your favorites. I know it's already one of mine! Enjoy!
