Equestrian Chic: Part Deux

ShelterPop was kind enough to ask me to comment on Equestrian Style for a piece on their site that ran yesterday.  You can learn more ways to incorporate equestrian accessories into your decor.  I also found these new photos since my last Equestrian Chic post.  Enjoy!

NYIGF: Horsing Around

Horses seemed to be a theme at the New York International Gift Fair this year.  I kept seeing them and mostly in the booths that had a vintage feel.  The handsome horse above is from Bliss Studio.

Horsing Around

The first wave of September magazines are out but I'm still enjoying the August 2010 issue of Vogue and this chic spread of Raquel Zimmermann and a horse named Ollie.  I can't even imagine what the tourists on Sixth Avenue thought when they saw them walking down the street.  I'm also swooning over the fall fashions. While I probably won't be wearing a cape this fall, I will definitely be buying that Adam tie neck blouse!  Bon weekend!

Portrait of a Rider

When I was researching my last post on Equestrian Chic, I came across an interesting book entitled The Private Passion of Jackie Kennedy Onassis: Postrait of a Rider. Jackie started riding at a very young age as you can see by some of the photos here and continued to ride with her own children. She spent much of her time riding in Middleburg, Virginia and attending horse shows throughout her life. Horseback riding teaches poise, posture and confidence so perhaps it is what accounted for her ever present grace under pressure. Definitely makes me want to sign up for lessons! Giddyup!

Equestrian Chic

One of my readers asked me if I had any advice on how to display a saddle in a home. I could only come up with one photo of a saddle sitting on a stair banister since I think most riders keep their saddles in the tack room. I did however find lots of homes with riding boots lined up and other riding accoutrements on full display. Enjoy!
