Yves Saint Laurent Anniversary

When I read that today was the anniversary of the creation of the fashion house of Yves Saint Laurent on 4 December 1961, I knew it would be a great time to post some of my favorite YSL photos.  It wasn't until I logged in that I realized that my previous post was about his longtime friend and muse Betty Catroux.  Kismet.

Chic in Morocco: Jardin Majorelle

One of the highlights from Marrakech, Morocco was visiting Jardin Majorelle. In 1923, the french painter Jacques Majorelle fell in love with the intense light of Morocco and built himself a Moorish villa around which he designed a luxurious garden and a separate bright blue studio.  The garden was opened to the public in 1947 and was later bought and restored by fashion designer Yves Saint Laurent and his partner Pierre Berge in 1980.  Because of the climate of Morocco, it's not your typical garden.  It reminds me more of a Japanese zen garden with palm trees and cactus.  It is such a special place that Yves Saint Laurent had his ashes laid to rest at a memorial on the property. Definitely a must visit place in Marrakech.
