Emerald City

There is a great article in the September issue of Vogue about the return to color in women's wardrobes.  It also mentioned the trend of red pants that started during New York Fashion Week last February.  Based on the amount of green I saw recently, I have a feeling that green may be the new red for this upcoming fashion week. At the FIT Couture Council event at the Central Park Boathouse, I saw three people wearing emerald green pant, the woman above (via Vogue) wearing a green knit dress, and another woman wearing a fabulous green beaded necklace and earrings.

Lacary Sharpe and Lisa Yom wearing one of pairs of green pants I saw at the FIT Couture Council party via New York Social Diary.

The pair of green pants that I guarantee we'll see at fashion week on the street style blogs are by Phillip Lim.

Editor Taylor Tomasi Hill of Marie Claire styled the Phillip Lim pants on Amanda Hearst recently at Barneys.  It was fun to watch Taylor style all the looks and finish them off with accessories in the video.  The pieces are a bit expensive but definitely worth a look so you can find the High Street adaptations at stores like Zara and H&M.

Phillip Lim also offers a silky cropped pair of green pants.

I caught this gentleman on Fifth Avenue sporting green pants last week too!

I love this look from the men's shows in Florence.

While it's still warm, men can wear green shorts.

Sarah Jessica Parker and the Duchess of Cambridge were both caught wearing green. Kate liked her green DVF dress so much, she wore it twice!

Love the green dresses and bags in this fall 2011 Mulberry ad.

Phillip Lim also offers a green dress for fall.

I love this Marc by Marc Jacobs green shirtdress with tie neck that looks a lot like the one SJP was wearing.

On the high end side, Chloe also showed some paler green.

I saw these green Phillip Lim shoes at Bergdorfs and they are what the fashion world refers to as fierce.  I definitely guarantee at least one fashionable fashion editor wears them to the shows.

I also loved this Miu Miu clutch that was featured on Vogue.  Unfortunately, it was only big enough to hold my BlackBerry, otherwise, it would have been mine.

I didn't buy any green items of clothing for fall yet but I did pick up a ring.  I found the green, gold, and wood ring by The Branch at Treillage and love the pop of color it adds to all my outfits.  Now I'm off to see the Wizard!

Green is Good

I thought it was interesting that Pantone chose Honeysuckle, a pink shade, as their Color of the Year for 2011.  The color that keeps catching my attention in both fashion and design is green.  It ranges from peacock to emerald but looks elegant and interesting in every shade.  I already bought a satin envelope clutch from J.Crew (sold out online) to add a little color to my wardrobe and it seems every designer sent green down their runway.  Green is definitely good!
